About my story & myself
Over the years I’ve been a photographer, videographer, video editor, author, speaker, content creator, mentor for autobiographical writing, and now a trauma-informed somatic practitioner and coach.
For a long time, I thought these were entirely different chapters of my life. Looking back, I can see that there has always been one common thread running through everything I’ve done.
I’ve always been drawn to creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be themselves fully and reconnect with themselves.
Sometimes that happened through my books. Sometimes through a camera. Sometimes through a conversation. Today, it often happens through somatic work.
The tools have changed over the years. The “why” hasn’t.
My own journey
The work and everything I do, share and create, begins with the experience(s) from my own life.
I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and from a very early age my body became something I had to think about, manage and navigate. It changed the way I look at life itself and the time we have on this planet. Looking back, I see how deeply my disease shaped the relationship with myself and my body.
Many years later, after having spent many years traveling and working location-independently, becoming a mother brought me face to face with myself in a way nothing else had before. I’d already spent years reading, learning, reflecting and doing the inner work. I had gone to therapy off and on, as well. I understood so much about myself on a cognitive level. I knew my patterns. I knew where moste of them came from.
And yet, in everyday life, I still found myself overwhelmed and being overcome by panic attacks regularly.
The missing puzzle-piece
It wasn’t until I discovered trauma-informed somatic work that something really began to shift. It didn’t “fix” me, but I slowly learned something I hadn’t known before:
How to listen to my body. How to understand what my nervous system was trying to tell me. How to stay with myself and all the feelings that were never allowed to be felt (fully).
My life isn’t perfect today. I don’t think that’s the goal. But I move through it very differently.
I have been able to step into a life of more presence, understanding, self-compassion, clarity and self-realization.
I have more capacity to be with what’s hard. So when life inevitably throws me off balance, I usually find my way back to center much more quickly.
That has truly changed my life.
Why I do this work
One of the things I’ve realized over the years is that we’re often searching for another version of ourselves.
A calmer, happier, more confident version.
But I believe it’s not about becoming someone else.
I think it’s about finding your way back to the person who has been there all along – the woman you are underneath it all. It’s about peeling away the layers – in order to let our true being shine through more and more.
This is an underlying intention through everything that I offer, whether we’re sitting together in a coaching session, you’re listening to one of my courses, I’m taking pictures or capturing a video of you, or we meet in a women’s circle – helping you feel safe enough to un-earth your truly magical, beautiful self.
A little more about me
Alongside my work as a trauma-informed somatic practitioner, I’m also the author of three autobiographical novels, a photographer and videographer, and someone who deeply loves writing and storytelling.
I live in Germany with my toddler son, who continues to be one of my greatest teachers.
Meaningful conversations, creativity and quiet mornings with my notebook are some of the places where I feel most at home.
